Climb the highest point of Kiev with extraordinary view

The Motherland Monument in Kiev is 102 meters tall – it is the highest monument and the highest point with the view. Interesting fact: after the monument construction, the sculpture had “plastic surgery” to increase its nose, because it did not look proportionate if looking from the ground. They also noticed that the right breast is smaller than the left one, but the sculptor said that this is a physiological process – when a woman raises her arm up the chest is stretched and becomes visually smaller.

The Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is a unique monastery founded in the 11th century and today it is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the very beginning the monastery was started as a single cave where a monk lived, and now it is a majestic complex with dozens of churches and two systems of underground caves. Caves serve as a cemetery for 79 monks. More than 45 million people from all over the world visited this unique place.

Like street art? Explore it in Kiev

During the last year or so, Kiev experienced a “boom” of murals – large-scale images on the walls of multi-stored buildings, most of which before that were completely unremarkable, and could not cause any emotion except despondency. And today artists from Brazil, Australia, Poland, Spain and Ukraine are making the city walls vibrant with paintings.
