Podil Tour always has special mysterious atmosphere: cobblestone pavement, theaters, old houses. This is where you want to listen to poetry and drink wine. Podil the oldest part of the city, and the excursion starts from the mountain that is called Starokievskaya (Old Kiev Mountain). It was here that the first stone church was built and here Vladimir the Great who baptized Rus was buried.

We continue the route walking through unusual streets, visiting Kiev artists near the real castle. After that we visit several museums and find out why the Kontraktovaya Square is called the Square of Contracts. Andriyivskyy Descent will surprise you with a variety of souvenirs: here you will find everything starting from Ukrainian embroideries and beautiful women’s wreaths, and ending up with fur hats – the legacy of the Soviet period.

Podil Tour consists of:

The Square of Contracts, Andrew’s Descent, The Castle of Richard the Lionheart, St. Andrew’s Church,  “After Two Hares” monument, The Poshtova Square. Also you will visit a lively market of art works and souvenirs, and many astonishing landscapes.

The Landscape Alley is without exaggeration one of the brightest and the most special areas in the Ukraine's capital. Hidden in the cozy yard in the Old Kiev's very center, it is the favourite strolling place for Kiev residents and the true magnet for capital's numerous guests, who always list this uncommon sight in their tourist itineraries.

The One Street Museum

The creators of the One Street Museum have been exploring the mysteries of the old Kiev street Andreyevsky spusk (Andrew’s descent) for many years.  Small in size but very deep in substance, the museum became one of the most popular museums in Kiev.

The Square of Contracts

The Square of Contracts is the heart of Podil. It is one of the oldest squares in Kiev dating back to the ancient times. It hosts two monuments to outstanding persons of Ukraine – G.S. Skovoroda, a great Ukrainian philosopher and P. Sagaydachny, a famous Ukrainian military commander.

The Poshtova Square

The square received its name from Podil post station that was opened there in 1846. The square was also known under an alternative name as Rizdvo (Christmas) Square, derived from Rizdvo Church built in 1810-1814 and destroyed in the 1930s. Today this area is full of cafes, street musicians and also from here you can start a boat cruise.

Among other tours to Ukraine, we chose Podil Tour by Guide me UA. Our guide to Kiev Olga was very informative, spoke excellent English and was happy to answer lots of questions. We went at a leisurely pace and chatted about all aspects of Ukrainian history, culture and places to visit. A great way to orient yourself at the start to take Kiev tour guides, so we do not regret.
