Things to do in Kiev. Guide me UA list.
We do not insist that these are absolutely must do things in Kiev, but they are interesting and different from those in standard tourist brochures. Written by local Kiev guide from Guide me UA.
During the tour many Kiev guests smile at the mention of Chicken Kyiv. Oh, yes, this is where the world-famous meal originated. And a few days ago (April 2017) a new place with the same name Chicken Kyiv opened. The famous Kiev restaurateur Dima Borisov continues to amaze the people of Kiev and visitors of the city with the quality and quantity of his establishments. Definitely that is the best cutlet in the city! It’s a sin to be in Kiev and not to try Chicken Kyiv! In addition, gourmets will have a chance to taste the real Kiev cake that can also be found in the menu of this place. Address: 15/4 Khreshchatyk str. “Chicken Kyiv” made with zander – 189 UAH.
Art Zavod Platforma
Come to Kiev in spring, summer or autumn. Most likely this is straight what you will do because you hardly want to wander around the streets when its -5C or maybe even -20C. So, in the more or less warm period of the year, Kiev every month offers its natives and guests special festivals at Art Zavod Platforma. Art Zavod is a kind of space for recreation and entertainment; usually it features festivals of street food in different formats and variations, local flea markets, music concerts, exhibitions, etc. To see the event poster of this beautiful location, click on this link. Art Zavod is not yet overcrowded with foreigners, so if you are looking for a place with a large number of people, and specifically locals, for joint get-togethers, this area can best suit your needs.
Perhaps, when you decided to go to Kiev, you have already studied the list of main sights, and you know that Andreevsky Descent is one of the favorite places for tourists. And indeed, it is ancient, mysterious, shrouded in a bunch of legends. But descending downward or rising up, turn onto Vozdvizhenskaya street. New Vozdvizhenka is a relatively new residential neighborhood – its construction was started in the 2000s. Despite the fact that it does not have any historical value, every house here is a work of art. The price for 1 sq. m in the houses of Vozdvizhenka starts from 2000 dollars. One can buy 2-room apartment of 80 sq. m starting from 130 thousand dollars, which is considered elite housing by the standards of Kiev.
the Motherland Monument
For those who love extreme sports, we suggest climbing the Motherland Monument. The total height of the monument and its basement is 102 meters. You can get as high as 96 meters (elevator works, no worries). Few people know that the Motherland Monument in Kiev is higher than the Statue of Liberty in the United States. For your information: the highest monument is located in India; it is dedicated to Sardar Patel, this is the statue of unity. Its height is 182 meters.
Kiev speak-easy bar
And having walked pretty much, do not deny yourself the pleasure of enjoying speak-easy bar. Our today’s (spring 2017) top 3: Loggerhead, Alchemist, Mozgi Bar. These are quality places with good cocktails, excellent people and average prices, without pathos and professional women. However, finding some of these places can be a lot of work. Actually, all this comes from the US, speak-easy bars were illegal establishments selling alcohol during the Prohibition. In Europe institutions of this format have existed for a long time, but in Kiev they are just starting to open and are in great demand. There is another option, book a nightlife tour from local guides – Guide me UA, because it’s unlikely you’ll find a really hot and really popular place yourself.
Of course, these are by far not all the must do things during your stay in Kiev, but for one article it is enough.
