10 Best Hotels in Kiev Booked by Foreign Tourists

Kiev is the capital of Ukraine; therefore, this city is full of attractions, hotels in Kiev, restaurants and is the main transport hub in Ukraine. But the first question when you are planning your trip is where to stay. We have compiled an independent list of Kiev hotels foreign tourists, guests of Guide me UA, choose most often. Here are both luxurious and budget places.

If you come to Ukrainian capital for only few hours or half a day, Kiev tour agency will help you to plan your leisure and see the sights of Kiev, arrange airport transfers and plan the program properly, so you will not waste your time.

But returning to accommodations, let’s define which ones are the best.

Best Kiev Hotels

The criterion was not price, location, or novelty. The list includes both luxurious five-star and budget comfortable places. The main factor is the popularity among foreign tourists. And the statistics was collected solely on the basis of the data of Guide ne UA tour agency, and is not official in the city. We do not publish prices for rooms in the article, because they can vary depending on the season.

So, let’s start with the 10th place.

10. DREAM Hostel

It is located in a beautiful historical place on Andreevskiy Descent (Andrew’s Descent)  in a secret courtyard in front of the famous cafe Lvivska Maisternia Chokoladu (Lviv Handmade Chocolate), where homemade chocolate is made.

DREAM Hostel, like all places of this format offers friendly international atmosphere. And being the best hostel in Kiev, this one is included in top 10 places where foreign guests often stay.

Unfortunately, it is not so easy to find a good hostel in Kiev, since this type of residence is still quite new for Ukraine. Many hostels in Kiev have simply been converted from old Soviet dormitories and do not meet European quality standards at all. In such Kiev hostels you will never find a special youth atmosphere you are so used to. Therefore, Dream Hostel (Kiev) is a place you will surely love.

Of course, you can get to know about rooms and prices at booking.com. We just want to add that this is the best option for budget tourists who want to live in a beautiful old place.

9. Ibis Hotel Kiev

Another rather budget option for accommodation is Ibis Hotel Kiev. Choosing international hotel chains even if it’s a 3-star hotel is more likely the right option, because such companies value their reputation and maintain a universally defined level of service.

Therefore, there will be no stunning surprises here, as in other 3-star hotels in Kiev.

Interiors, location, and staff – everything is quite decent. It is not the city center, but use Uber and for 2 dollars and 10 minutes you will be in the city center. And in the summer it’s just perfect to stop here, since the city botanical garden is located in 7 minutes walk.

8. Hyatt Regency Kiev

The famous Hyatt Hotel in Kiev takes the eighth line in the frequency of booking among the guests of Guide me UA agency. It is famous because it is the most expensive in Kiev. Some guests of the Ukrainian capital can afford to pay 300-1800 USD per night.

Location of Hyatt Kiev is ideal – on Sophia Square with a beautiful view of the ancient churches, and it is only 700 meters to get to the main square, the Maidan. On the eighth floor there is a marvelous bar, it’s called Bar on 8.

So even if you stay in another hotel, come here to admire one of the best views of Kiev. The level of service, quality of rooms, food – make sure it is all at the highest level.

7. 11 Mirrors Design Hotel Kiev

The co-founder of this hotel is Klitschko’s younger brother, Vladimir. Senior brother, Vitaliy is the current mayor of Kiev (2017), and they are both well-known Ukrainian boxers, world champions in heavyweight.

Besides, the elder, the mayor of Kiev lives next door to the hotel, so stopping at 11 Mirrors you can always brag to your friends that you lived next to the city mayor. The hotel has a boutique format, and if you describe it in one word, then most likely it is “elegant”. The hotel is ideally located, next to the Opera House and about 15 minutes walk from the main street called Khreshchatyk.

However, being the 5-star hotel in Kiev and quite small, 11 Mirrors is hard to book, especially in the spring-summer-autumn season. Therefore, if you choose this hotel, book in advance.

6. Hotel Ukraine

Before the war, there was the first Kiev skyscraper, the Ginzburg Skyscraper on the site of this hotel. During the war, the Germans blew it up.

The building was rebuilt and became a hotel called Moscow with a monument to Lenin in front of it.

Now the hotel was renamed to Hotel Ukraine, and the monument was replaced by the Independence Monument – Berehynia statue. However, if you want to feel all the Soviet past of the city, you should stay here: it is the city center, it is inexpensive and still has the Soviet smell; this is what many tourists want to experience when going to Kiev.

Also, the hotel is located on Institutska Street, where four years ago sniper killed many Ukrainian activists, so the area around the hotel is surrounded by monuments, wreaths and memorial symbols, creating the effect of a small cemetery. However, those who are not indifferent to the fate of the people of Ukraine and the latest actions of the revolution will be able to fully immerse in the atmosphere.

It is a 4-star hotel and it is a part of the architectural ensemble of the main square of Independence.

5. Senator Apartments Maidan

Choosing a central location, pay attention to this accommodation. Even not being a hotel, Senator Apartments Maidan has a lot of good reviews and takes the 5th place among the 10 places most frequently chosen by foreign tourists in Kiev.

Very good service, worth its money, excellent interiors, perfect location on the main square. And also this option is ideal for those who do not like hotels.

4. Hilton Kiyv

One of the world-class luxury hotels is located in the center of Kiev in a high building with interesting architecture. Living at the Hilton Hotel means emphasizing your social status and respectability; this hotel enjoys well-deserved respect in any country in the world.

Therefore, many wealthy tourists, when they come to Kiev, choose rooms in this hotel. Everything is very perfect here: parking, spa, gym, small summer terrace, kitchen, bar, rooms, staff. However, the location is a bit far from the center – it takes 20 min walk to the Khreshchatyk Street, but by taxi it is only 3 min drive.

Guests who want to maintain a good physical shape even on vacation can attend the fitness room with exercise equipment free of charge. The large indoor pool is open all year round and everyone can use it. The beauty salon offers various beauty programs and procedures.

3. Premier Palace Kiev

This is by right the most interesting hotel in Kiev, as it is the oldest among all. It was built in 1912. The most fashionable and the oldest hotel in the capital, once it was home for the symbols of the Soviet era – Alexander Vertinsky, Lyubov Orlova, Leonid Utesov, foreign politicians Madeleine Albright, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice, famous singers Bryan Adams, Chris De Burg, Enrique Iglesias, Patricia Kaas, stars of the world cinema Sophia Loren, Ornella Muti, Jean Reno, Jerzy Hoffman, athletes Lennox Lewis, David Beckham, Mika Hakkinen.

As a tribute to its eminent clients, Premier Palace even decorated several rooms to match the likes of these historical personalities. So, the hotel offers suites named after Lubov Orlova, Alexander Vertinsky, and Vladimir Vysotsky.

The highlight of the hotel is the Presidential Room with a library where the originals of classical works of English, French, Russian and German literature are collected and the complete collection of the Brockhaus and Efron Encyclopedic Dictionary in 86 volumes.

Every day special delivery makes it possible to receive newspapers from anywhere in the world at 6 am. Employees of the Premier Palace proudly note that sometimes the publications appear here earlier than they go on sale in the home country of the guest. So, together with breakfast, the client will always be given a favorite reading.

One day, a rich traveler wanted to take a bath of milk before he goes to sleep. And this milk was supposed to be a certain brand. Employees of the hotel spent the evening looking for bottles of this specific milk at the shops of Kiev, but managed to fulfill the request of the client.

Moreover, there is a room dedicated to Ukrainian Cossacks. The Ukrainian Cossacks struggled against the Tatars and the Turks in the steppe and on the Black Sea, participated in the struggle of the Ukrainian people against socioeconomic and national-religious oppression by the Polish magnates and helped to build an autonomous Ukrainian state.

The hotel is located in a good location, in the center and almost always completely filled.

2. AIRBNB Apartments

Of course, we cannot ignore the popular Sharing economy and the long-loved AIRBNB service where you can quickly, easily and not expensive (which is also important) book an apartment. In the center of Kiev, an apartment for a day can be rented from 15 to 50 USD. It should be also noted that our guests often tell us that the hosts are very friendly. You can be offered to arrange a transfer from the airport, and to eat, and you will be supported by phone during your stay in Kiev. Hospitality of Ukrainians has no limits. Most foreign tourists rent flat in the following streets: Khreshchatyk, Basseina, Lesya Ukrainka, Velyka Vasilkivska.

1. Khreschatyk Hotel

And the hotel most often chosen by foreigners is the Hotel Khreschatyk City Center. Khreshchatyk Hotel is ideally located on the main square of Kiev, and has a relatively attractive price for a 4-star hotel.

The Hotel, opened in 1989 is not the most chic option in Kiev, but because of the best combination of location, price and service, it is in good demand. The door adjacent to the hotel is the door to the Buddha Bar, so for those who like nightlife, you will not need to go far.

2019 Update

In 2019, the Aloft Hotel is considered the most popular.

This is an absolutely new hotel of the Marriott chain in the center of the city and our guides most often pick up guests from here.

Khreshchatyk hotel has lost its position, because it is not so new, built in the Soviet Union.

In Aloft Kiev 310 rooms, five of them are adapted for visitors with disabilities.
Brand Aloft is focused on modern travelers, open to the world and innovations. Three important components of the brand: music, architecture and technology.

The rooms, which are located from the 3rd to the 24th floor, are designed in a restrained, gray style, with bright color accents.
